pong

project pong started life as a standalone games table but has progressed into a ground breaking user interface for much loved game pong. the idea behind this games table was to change how the game was controlled, players are able to move their paddles in real time outside the confinements of the monitor allowing more fluid and competitive game play.

as you can see pictured (right) each player is in control of a coloured paddle, these paddles move independently from the board, but at the same time controls what happens in play. the board uses a number of sensors to identify where the paddles are and allows the in game ball to bounce from paddle to paddle.

the table itself has a integrated 19inch monitor along with a built in sound system. As this was only a prototype there is an outside computer controlling the game, although in future this could easily be scaled down to fit inside the case.
